- received Bachelor of Science [Arch] (1979), Bachelor of Architecture First Class Honors (1983) from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia; and Master of Architecture with Distinction (1986) from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts
- worked with John Andrews / JAI (1979-1982); and Ken Woolley / AMW (1983) in Sydney, Australia.
- taught architecture at the University in Cincinnati (Assistant Professor, 1986-1989); and Carnegie Mellon University (the T. David Fitz-Gibbons Chair in Architecture 1989-1992; Adjunct Associate Professor 1993-1999)

- founded Rusli Associates in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1989-1999)
>> design principal, Alcoa Corporate Center (1994-1998), a corporate headquarters of US Fortune 500 company.

  • the Alcoa Corporate Center was awarded The 1999 Business Week / Architectural Record Award and The 1999 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Pittsburgh Chapter Architectural Award

- at Payette Associates Inc., Boston, Massachusetts (2000-2005)
>> lead designer of two state-of-the-art biomedical research laboratories for leading medical schools: BRB for Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore (370,000 sf) and BST3 for the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Oakland (330,000 sf), both completed; as well as master plans and other technologically demanding laboratory buildings for various US universities and pharmaceuticals.

  • BST3 was awarded The 2007 Merit Awards for Design Excellence, The American Institute of Architects (AIA) New England
